Course Description

Supply chain and operations managers are at the core of any company. They keep businesses running smoothly and ensure that clients, suppliers and employees are effective and successful in their work. They obtain, develop and manage the resources required to deliver goods and services to clients and contribute to key decisions involving facilities management, logistics, inventory control, purchasing, quality control and scheduling. You will gain hands-on experience using software from SAP – the world’s leading supplier of enterprise resource planning software. As part of their program of studies, students have the opportunity to earn the SAP Student Recognition Award, providing evidence to potential employers of their proficiency with this software. This program also offers you the opportunity to add to your skills and knowledge with real-life work experience gained through either a field placement or a co-operative education (co-op) experience. NOTE: Students enrolling in this program are required to purchase their own laptop. Operations management is the core functional area of any business. Operations managers obtain, develop and manage the resources required to deliver goods and services to clients. This includes contributing to key decisions involving: Facilities management Inventory management Purchasing Quality assurance Production planning and scheduling Supply chain management Transportation, distribution and logistics Graduates are well-positioned to pursue a variety of professional accreditations with professional organizations including: APICS The Association for Operations Management Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) After completing one year of business study, you may choose to graduate with a certificate in Business Fundamentals. After two years of study, you may choose to graduate with a diploma in Supply Chain and Operations – Business. Students will have two options to gain valuable skills in the workforce and will either complete a field placement or a co-operative education (co-op) experience. Students completing the field placement will participate in an unpaid work placement completed during semester 6. Students who qualify for the co-op experience will complete a four-month paid work experience in between second and third year of their program.
